A simple helper class-Gaussian converter. In many cases that old 'y=mx + b' line just doesn't cut it. Whether you're making your own version of an OS X Dock or trying to get that organic feel for some calculations, Gauss to the rescue.
Oh, and yes, I realize it is not a 'proper' gaussian curve, I separated the magnitude/variance constraints to make it useable in a general case.
Also- please note. This is not a 'hyperbolic' curve. Hyperbolic is the path a ball takes when thrown into the air. Bell curve is acceptable, hyperbolic is not. If I were into that copyright thing, I'd craft some 1337 legalese that caused this code to self destruct on use anytime someone referred to it as hyperbolic. But then again, RIAA probably already has that copyrighted.
Use:
Mean: middle number. Peak value is at this point.
Variance: distance from Mean at which half magnitude is hit.
Magnitude: maximum height, acheived at Mean value.

Hi, I just love the work you guys are doing, not only the pure technical side of it but I really dig the paradigm shift MS is introducing.
Anyway, I saw you nitpicking about curve names so I had to chime in with some nitpicking of my own:
when you throw a ball into the air it actually describes a PARAbola (y = ax² + bx + c, where the quadratic term accounts for the g-force acceleration IIRC).
So it's definitely not a HYPERbola (y = a/x)
